My contribution is a Blood Orange Gose Margarita.  I was inspired by a Blood Orange Gose beer from Anderson Valley Brewing Company.  This beer is tart, fruity, and refreshing and in my opinion a perfect addition to this margarita (and magically delicious on its own).

Happy Margarita Week and have a fun and safe Cinco de Mayo celebration! Cheers!

Blood Orange Gose Margarita

Ingredients

  • Juice of 1 blood orange about 6 tablespoons
  • 8 ounces silver tequila
  • 4 ounces triple sec
  • 1 can blood orange gose beer
  • Margarita salt for the rim
  • Lime and blood orange slices to garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Combine blood orange juice, tequila, and triple sec in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake
  2. Pour some beer in a bowl and margarita salt in another bowl
  3. Dip the rims of two tall pint size glasses into the beer then the salt to coat
  4. Add ice to the glasses, pour tequila mixture over ice, top with remaining beer, garnish with orange and lime slices if using

NOTES:

  1. This recipe made two Blood Orange Gose Margaritas
  2. I didn’t use lime juice because this beer is a sour style gose and it’s a perfect balance to the sweetness of the juice and triple sec
  3. I used Blood Orange Gose from Anderson Valley Brewing Company – I usually stick to North Carolina breweries, but I also happen to really love Anderson Valley and we can actually get it here

Strawberry Lime Frozen Margarita

Strawberry Lime Frozen Margarita

Strawberry Lime Frozen Margarita

I think Mondays deserve booze.

Strawberry Lime Frozen Margarita

I find it hard to believe that I’m alone with this opinion.  Who’s with me?  Strawberry Lime Frozen Margaritas for breakfast, anyone?  No judgments here.

Strawberry Lime Frozen Margarita

It’s the week of Cinco de Mayo and while I’ve shared Mexican Street Corn and Shrimp Tacos with Avocado Salsa, life just isn’t complete until we’ve had a few cocktails.  I’m up to my eyeballs over here in strawberries, so I decided that when life gives you strawberries, Strawberry Lime Frozen Margaritas are the way to go.

And I’m totally not joking about the amount of strawberries I have.  I planted one tiny little strawberry plant last year in my garden and now it’s taken over one of my raised beds. I have so many that I even stopped fighting the birds for them!  Needless to say, I have a lot of strawberry posts in the pipeline.  I hope y’all like strawberries!

Strawberry Lime Frozen Margarita

I’m keeping things short today.  Because….tequila and Game of Thrones.  ‘Nuff said.

Have a great week, y’all!

Patio Passion Martini Knockoff

August 17, 2015 by rachelle 51 Comments

Good morning, sunshine!  I say we start this week off on the right track with a martini for breakfast on this fine Monday. Who’s with me?

There is a place in Charlotte called Dillworth Neighborhood Grill that used to be a go-to hang out for lunch and happy hour back in the day when I was an Assistant Public Defender. Just to be clear – lunch and happy hour usually happened at different times. 🙂 Usually.

If you remember Happy Days and the Fonz, it was our version of Arnold’s.  Except we weren’t in high school and I didn’t have any friends named Potsie – even if we do share the same last name.

What in tarnation does this all have to do with this pink martini, you ask?

The Patio Passion was a signature drink at DNG that was my best friend at the end of a trial week.  Because when you have to explain to a jury that the smack in your client’s pants is not his and he should be found not guilty because of the not my pants defense…..

You will need the Patio Passion Martini in your life.

I hope you never experience either side of this story, but if you do, I have your remedy. Crappy trial weeks led me to recreate the DNG Patio Passion Martini.

Cheers to a great week!  If it sucks,  you can always have the Patio Passion Martini!

Butterscotch Martini with Bailey’s Irish Whipped Cream

Ingredients

For the Butterscotch Martini:

  • 3 oz. Baileys Irish Cream
  • 3 oz. Cake Vodka
  • 3 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps

For the Bailey's Irish Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Tbs. sugar
  • 1 Tbs. Bailey's Irish Cream
  • Grated chocolate optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Add cream, sugar and Bailey's to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. Mix on medium-low (I used setting #2) until stiff peaks form (about 7-8 minutes). Be careful not to over mix or you will have Bailey's flavored butter!
  2. In a cocktail shaker, add 5-6 large ice cubes, Bailey's, Cake Vodka, and Butterscotch Schnapps. Shake vigorously. Pour into a martini glass and top with Bailey's Irish Whipped Cream and garnish with grated or shaved chocolate, if desired.
  3. Note: this will make one large martini with a generous sidecar or two smaller martinis.
