People’s Porter (Foothills Brewing) Shepherd’s Pie

People's Porter Shepherd's Pie

I’m feeling frisky this week, y’all!  It’s my birthday month and we’re giving stuff away! Woot!  So, I’m coming at you with an additional post to remind you to wish me a happy birthday enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day holiday and to enter the giveaway for some free food from HelloFresh!  If you’re not familiar with these fine folks, you can find them here.

People's Porter Shepherd's Pie

We (and again, I mean me and IDK why????) have stepped things up a bit and in the spirit of my birthday and the upcoming holiday, I took the traditional Shepherd’s Pie and, well….. duh!  I added beer! Because why not?  If you want a family friendly version either substitute the beer for beef stock or go with this recipe where I made Shepherd’s Pie and lamented about how the only thing I wished I did different was to add beer.  So I put it in a glass.  What can you do?  I went with the People’s Porter from North Carolina’s own Foothills Brewing because if it’s a beer you want to drink in a glass, it’s a beer you want to cook with.  And I do love their beer any way I can get it!

BTW – this is not a sponsored post and I have not received any compensation from Foothills or anyone else.  I just love good craft beer.

Shepherd’s Pie is pretty much a staple dish here in the UK and everyone thinks that their grandparents make the best version of it haha.

Yummmm… I’ve never eaten a Sherpherd’s pie (Shame on me!) but I really feel like this would be my new favourite dish if I tried it.
The giveaway is not available in my region but I envy the person who wins this!

Shepherds pie always reminds me of the ultimate comfort dish! I’ve never made my own before, so I definitely need to change that! Sounds like the perfect recipe, especially for a cool and rainy day that’s coming my way!

Can you believe I’ve never tried a Shepherds pie? As a kid it was something I was unwilling to touch….too many food touching each other (I know…) As an adult, I don’t have any of those issues and I think it looks very yummy. Now I just need to get cooking and give this a try!

I love me a good porter! I haven’t heard of Foothills Brewing yet, but I imagine I would have been all over that one back when I lived in NC. (We’re enjoying Whiteface Black Diamond Stout from Great Adirondack Brewing lately.) Happy early birthday, and can I please have some of that leftover shepherd’s pie? It looks incredible! 🙂

This shepherd’s pie looks amazing! Putting that porter in there is a fabulous idea. It’s been so long since I’ve had a shepherd’s pie and now I’m craving it.

Shepherd’s Pie is one of my favorite dishes of my mom’s… I would love it any which way – so your addition of beer, carrots and thyme make me very happy! De-Lish!

Did my Hubby call you and ask you to make this? Because Shepard’s pie and beer are two of his favorite things. His mind will be blown when I show him this recipe and I’ll be making it this weekend. It’s going to a chilly this Saturday so that will be a perfect night for it! I’ll try to remember to take a pic of it and send it you…with a picture of my beer that I’m drinking with it ???? ????

Oooh, beer in Shepherd’s Pie? Yep, that’s what it’s been missing! I love beer in beef, always. And you just made the classic about 50 times better!
